Default I'm back.

I am sorry that I have been "unfaithful" here lately, shame on me I know. I have finally installed the new 350, with the completely redone transmission with the shiftkit, into my truck... It was crazy. So many things went wrong. Ha. The new Hooker Headers would not allow me to use the original powersteering mounting bracket, so we had to custom fabricate that, we are currently having to custom fabricate a bracket for the kickdown cable on the carburetor. I am also dealing with some timing/idling/temperature problems... I have the timing set to 20 degrees advanced just so it will stay running when shifting from park to drive. The idling, well, it idles like it has a massive cam in it... That is definately not how my mild cam should be. We think it may be a combination of- ill-adjusted valves, a vacuum leak (possibly from the carburetor plate that lifts it up), and then the temperature... I believe I am running a 185 thermostat and the guage is pegged at 240... I turn the heater on and it drops to 220, maybe the guage is wrong? I went and bought a new thermostat (160) and am going to install it in the morning along with pulling the carburetor and valve adjustments. I had to drive it with no inspection, no tags, no bed, no taillights, no rear license plate, open headers for about 10 miles to the exhaust shop. Interesting ride. We stopped at a red light, it turned green and lightly let on the gas and the truck went no-where, looked out the back window and could see the tires smoking up the hood. It was hilarious. I will have some pics up soon.

Hey man, I had to make that kickdown cable bracket too on my Chevelle's 350. I know that idle sound you're talking about.

thuhhrump-thuhhrump-thuhhrump like it's starving for gas...

Keep us posted and looking forward to the pics.
